Richard the First is a traditional locals' pub, located on Royal Hill in an area designated for conservation, and is the only Young's pub in the area.

The pub has been decorated to a very high standard with carpet & fittings in the saloon bar whilst the small but intimate public bar has retained the original feel with its beautifully varnished wood flooring.
